Should I book in advance?


Advance booking will guarantee entry at your desired time and we will also provide a free audio-guide (when available). You may book online or by phone up to half an hour before your desired entry time. We operate to time-slots every 15 minutes. Please arrive promptly for your time-slot. How long is the exhibition on for?


The British Music Experience is a permanent national attraction. We are delighted to be based in Liverpool, a UNESCO City of Music.




How long will it take me to go round the British Music Experience?


We recommend that you allow at least 75 minutes for your visit. Our audio-guide lasts 60 minutes and the exhibition features many interactive areas in which visitors are encouraged to participate. There is also the Gibson Interactive Studio which gives visitors the chance to play a range of professional musical instruments. A map of the BME will be available on arrival.




What time is last entry?


Last entry is 75 minutes before closing.




Do you have a gift shop?


Yes, our Merch Store is open daily and sells a range of band tees, books, vinyl and memorabilia, with items from all our temporary exhibitions past and present, including Bands FC, Dorothy, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and The Charlatans.




I have general entry tickets booked through your website, but latest government restrictions mean I can’t now visit – what can I do?


Your ticket will remain valid for 12 months. Just keep hold of your original email and present it at ticketing when you are ready to come back.




I have an annual pass – will this be extended to compensate for the time you were closed?


All valid annual passes will be extended for any forced closure periods.




I have event tickets booked through your website, but latest government restrictions mean I can’t now visit – what can I do?


Please keep hold of your tickets until the event has a rescheduled date. Once we have a new date confirmed for the event, we will contact all ticket holders and outline your options.




It says you have to pre-book because places are limited, but I already have a ticket or an annual pass– what should I do?


Don't worry, we have allocated a number of places per time slot for our returning guests. Come back and visit us when you feel ready. As time slots are every 15 minutes, you shouldn't have to wait too long before you can enter.
