This course is for a group of learners.  Looking for a course for individuals?

This course will give learners the knowledge and confidence to provide appropriate initial support to an adult or young person who may be experiencing a mental health problem.

On successful completion, learners will be qualified as 'Mental Health First Aiders', sometimes also referred to as 'Mental Health Champions' or 'Mental Health Advocates'.

The first module will give learners an understanding of the mental health continuum and how an individual's mental health may change over time.

They'll explore risk factors for developing a mental health problem, as well as the relationship between substance use and mental health.

In the second module they'll look at common triggers and early warning signs for specific mental health problems. They'll also explore organisations that provide specialised support for each condition.

The third module will help learners to make a difference in the real world. They'll learn how to use the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan to start a safe and supportive conversation, encouraging appropriate self-help or professional support when necessary.

They'll also develop enhanced communication skills, including non-judgemental listening.

Finally, learners will explore how they can become more mentally resilient, as well as discovering ways that they can challenge stigma and contribute to a positive mental health culture where everyone can thrive.

This course can be delivered in-person, online or using a blend of both - whatever works best for you and your learners!

The face-to-face version of this course can be delivered to groups of up to 16 people. It will be delivered at your venue by a specialist Paramedic educator who has lots of experience of dealing with mental health problems.

If required, it can be delivered in 2 separate half day sessions, on different days, in the evenings or even at weekends!

To get the 'best of both worlds', this course can be completed as blended learning.

Learners first complete interactive eLearning before attending webinar or face-to-face training.

eLearning allows flexibility around the development of core knowledge, whilst the in-person element helps learners to contextualise the learning to their individual situation.

The webinar version of this course is the same as the face-to-face format, except it's delivered via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

It's delivered over 3 separate webinar sessions, to groups of up to 20 people, at a time to suit you.

The eLearning version of this course gives learners flexibility. They can study at a time, place, pace and on a device that suits them.

This is a fully interactive eLearning course. It's definitely NOT just a PowerPoint presentation or recording of a classroom session, as you might find elsewhere!

Throughout the course learners have access to their Tutor, who will be a healthcare professional with lots of experience of dealing with mental health problems.
