COURSE OVERVIEW
This course will give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to look after an adult or child who suddenly becomes injured or unwell during school.
It enables people to be a first aider in the workplace, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It also meets the requirements of the Department for Education's (DfE's) Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
The course avoids the duplication of doing separate adult and paediatric courses, by focusing topics on both adults and children.
It is suitable for those who don't already hold an in-date First Aid at Work certificate. Those who are currently in-date (or whose certificate has recently expired) require the First Aid at Work for School (re-qualification) course.
Where appropriate, the course will also cover the recognition and management of catastrophic bleeding, including the use of tourniquets and heamostatic dressings.
